BLACK DIAMOND ED120
The additional aperture of this telescope provides a dramatic increase in resolution and a heighten sense of seeing lunar and planetary surface phenomenon in seemingly 3D-like high-definition. Tight globular star clusters like M13 in Constellation Hercules appear like a beehive of crisp stellar pin points, star upon thousands of stars deep into the objects core. In Deep-space, rich aggregates of stars within Galaxies, Nebulas, and open clusters appear brilliant contrasted against a very dark velvet black background. The wispy, delicate, featherlike structure of dust lanes and extension of glowing gasses can be seen reaching out far beyond the object's core.

Schott Glass Used in Selected Models for Crown Element
Black Diamond ED120 SCHOTT benefit from the inclusion of Schott glass being used for the positive front Crown element in the objective. Schott is the recognized world leader in glass utilized for precision optical lens systems, including medical instrumentation, and famous-brand camera lenses. While Schott glass is only used in selected models, all other models utilize top-quality, Grade-A glass from perhaps less famous but, nonetheless, highly respected, high-quality glass manufacturers.
Metallic High-Transmission Lens Coatings
Each air-to-glass lens surface has exotic anti-reflection metallic coatings applied to ensure optimum light through-put of approaching 99.5%. The proprietary Sky-Watcher “Metallic High-Transmission Coatings” (MHC) are the finest photon anti-rejection coatings in their class.
Light-Baffled Optical Systems
The objective lens cell is light-baffled to reject stray, unfocused light. The draw tube is likewise baffled to insure optimum contrast. The tube interior is flat blackened to help prevent unfocused internal light reflections from reaching the focal plane.
Precision 2” Crayford Focuser is Standard
Optical focus is achieved by means of a mechanically ultra-smooth, backlash-free, precision 2” Crayford rack & pinion focuser-assembly . This focuser offers fine and ultra-fine focusing adjustments.
Tube Materials
The optical tube material is rolled steel, powder-coated reflective gloss black with gold fleck accent. The front and back cells are cast-aluminum painted white, or black.
Telescope Tube Attachment Hardware :
The optical tube comes with attachment hardware that allows it to be securely fastened to any Sky-Watcher mount. The quick-release tube rings provided with Black Diamond ED120 SCHOTT are cast-aluminum, painted white.
Included Components for Selected Models*
Black Diamond ED120 SCHOTT is supplied with backlash-free 2” Crayford focusers and quality foam-lined metal carrying cases as standard equipment. Black Diamond ED120 SCHOTT is also supplied with 8x50mm viewfinder with bracket; 2” dielectric diagonal; two 1.25” LE (Long Eye Relief) eyepieces (LE20mm and LE5mm); 1.25” focuser adaptor; and tube ring attachment hardware for mounting to any Sky-Watcher, or other compatible mounts.

EQ6
The Sky-watcher EQ6 Heavy-Duty Equatorial Mount is the first of its kind, it is a precision instrument capable of carrying massive loads but at the same time it is very reasonably priced.
The EQ6 equatorial head has a black powder coating finish and weighs 17 Kg. It comes equipped with a removable counterweight shaft with a diameter of 18 mm. The Equatorial head also features a built in polar finder scope with focusing eyepiece. The polar finder is non-illuminated. However, several after-market illuminators fit the mount perfectly, making this upgrade easy and very cost effective. Both axis are locked down with 2 robust hand clamps.
The height of the mount from tripod support to the top of the saddle plate is 406mm. The lowest possible height with the tripod 1179mm(updated) and the maximum extendable height with the tripod is 1714mm(updated). The saddle plate on the top of the mount accepts generic dovetail bars made by Sky-Watcher and many other companies. The dovetail bar is held securely by dual hand clamps. Setting circles are provided on both axes.
The mount is equipped with a built-in dual axis drives. The drives are controlled by a hand paddle with a switch for both Northern and Southern hemisphere operation and slewing speeds of 2x, 8x, and 16x the Sidereal rate.
The tripod is made from stainless steel and has tubular legs making for a very sturdy system. The tripod is adjustable in height from 85 cm to 147cm (updated) using quick release clamps on each leg. The weight of the tripod is 7.4 Kg. An accessory tray is also provided which also adds overall stability to the mount. Two (2) counterweights are included, each weighing 5.4 kg.
Out of the box, the EQ6 is designed to accommodate telescope payloads up to 40lbs and is excellent for visual observations and short term unguided CCD imaging with most telescopes of conventional design. It will easily handle refractors up to 200mm and classic Newtonians up to 14" in aperture. Larger aperture custom telescopes in light-weight graphite tubes can also be accommodated on a case by case basis.
If your interest is long-exposure astro-photography, EQ5 SkyScan features a PEC (periodic error correction) function, as well as an autoguide interface for autoguiding or CCD imaging. See more information about the EQ5 SkyScan.
