Why choose a Donsonian telescope?

Dobsonian telescopes provide a good "bang for your buck" value for money option for dedicated astronomical viewing. The diameter of the tube of these models is generally much bigger providing excellent light gathering capability. Generally, the greater the diameter of the tube and objective lens, the telescope will offer better magnification and clarity in the image being viewed. 

We offer 3 types of Dobsonian telescopes:

1. The Skywatcher fixed tube Dobsonian with tension handles. Quite simply this is the base model Dobsonian. It differs from the rest because the main tube is NOT collapsible.

2. The Skywatcher collapsible Dobsonian has a tube that can be collapsed and there-fore reduced in size for transportation or storage.

3. The Skywatcher collapsible Dobsonian with auto tracking. This model is the same as the collapsible but will be able to track a astronomical object in relation to the earths rotation. Similar to using an equatorial mount and a motor drive. This is different from a full go to mount.
